Jingjing and Chacha

During my residency at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel, I created a large multi-panel LED installation exploring how history and identity shift, repeat, and collide over time. The central piece is divided into four quadrants, each featuring a fragmented section of a face- political figures, cartoon characters, deities, and cultural icons are continuously reconfigured and recombined. The two side panels feature Jingjing, Chacha, and other Chinese authority mascots. Displayed on LED panels found in everyday vendor shops, the work asks how political and pop imagery shape our sense of self, and how technologies shape our sense of belonging.
